Product Details
After a famous find from the Guttmann collection, 4th to 3rd century. Worn until the 2nd century AD by the praetorians.

Entirely handmade on your own measurements. Bronze helmet richly decorated and engraved, partially fire tinned. The dophins engraving was found on a 4th century helmet from Tarent in Sicilie. We know about more than a hundred of originals of this type of helmet. Most of them were found in the south of Italy, where they were buried in the graves of normal soldiers. The swords and other military equipment show us in these graves, that these helmets weren’ t worn by officers. Since the 3rd century, the Romans occupied the south of Italy. They began to change the burial traditions, so we can find no more helmets and weapons in the soldiers graves.

Just tombstones and mosaics poove that thias kind of helmet was even worn up to the 2nd century AD, mostly by soldiers of the praetorians, who kept on wearing an classical and old fashioned military equipment by tradition.
